the experience

Our journey started when we met each other in 2005 while living in Los Angeles. I was attending FIDM (fashion school) and Joe was a singer in a band. Little did we know the adventure we had started. We fell for each other during long drives up to Big Bear to go snowboarding. After that we moved to San Diego (because our dog loved the beaches there) where I started school for graphic design. This is where Joe bought me my first digital camera (a pink point and shoot). I spent hours walking around downtown San Diego shooting anything and everything. Joe was often my “model” doing whatever I asked while I experimented with photography (thanks Joe !). Shortly after we drove across the country with our cats and our dog and moved to Boston (where Joe was born) to experience the east coast and revel in all the architectural beauty. I started attending Suffolk University in Boston and took many fine art classes. Art history, painting, and design classes all shaped me as a photographer. I started working with a modeling agency and photographing all of the new models for their portfolios. This is when I knew for sure photography was my love, it blended my love for fashion and design so seamlessly. We later moved to Seattle (where I was born) and friends started asking us to photograph their weddings. Joe and I fell in love with how meaningful it felt to document something so sentimental and special for people. Joe being a very social extrovert loved getting to know all the families and friends at our clients weddings. He was able to ease any nerves grooms would have and I would focus on the bride and make sure she was captured in the most flattering fashion editorial type of way. Joe had a history with film photography from high school and he got me interested in it as well. I picked up a Contax 645 in 2010 and it was love at first frame. I couldn’t put it down and I still haven’t. We still shoot about 80% of the wedding day on analogue film (medium format as well as 35mm ) It gives us the ethereal look we love and keeps our colors and edits looking consistent. It’s been 15 years now and we have so many stories and memories from the hundreds of weddings we have been a part of. We also see many of our past couples when they come back annually or bi-annually for family photos, newborn photos, and maternity !

We cant wait to hear your story ! Here's ours ....

get to know

Brittany is a romantic at heart and prides herself on being able to empathize with her whoever is in front of her camera. To be able to really capture a feeling you must first be able to feel that feeling yourself. Her approach to photography has always been instinctual and emotionally driven. She doesn’t care much for rules or talking gear. She loves composition, color, light, and how an image makes you feel. She will guide you during your engagement session and couples portraits on the wedding day, helping to get you comfortable and to be as natural as possible in front of the camera. With her background in fashion merchandising and graphic design, she also enjoys styling and uses this skill to enhance still life images as well as in location scouting for portraits.

Joe has a special way of making everyone feel like they have known him forever. He is a true guys guy through and through. He loves sports, (Hockey) and exploring the outdoors. He can have a conversation with just about anyone. He specializes in group portraits and is the master when it comes to family portraits on your wedding day. He also can make any kid laugh and smile for the camera (its magic !) He always spends the morning with the groom and groomsmen capturing candid moments of the guys. He also has a special talent for seeing locations and light that might get overlooked.

“ When I say I want to photograph someone, what it really means is that I'd like to know them. Anyone I know I photograph … “

Brittany specializes in the couples portraits, details, decor and golden hour photos. While Joe is the master of organizing large groups for family photos, and getting any kid to smile for a photo. He also works with the groom and groomsmen while Brittany simultaneously photographs the bride and bridesmaids. They both rule at candids for the cocktail hour and reception, often competing with each other to see who can get the best shot. Combining their very different personalities and strengths has helped them become one great package !

How we work together

- rachel and theo - 2020 - woodmark hotel

Brittany and Joe were amazing!! We hired them to shoot our wedding for July 2020. We had so much fun at our engagement photo shoot which made us even more excited for our wedding. As 2020 progressed covid hit and we had to reschedule our wedding a 2 times. They were so flexible and willing to change dates. They made everyone so comfortable while we posed for pictures. They made everyone look so natural. The backdrops at our venue were picked out by Joe and Brittany beautifully. We will forever treasure our wedding photos! We hope to work with them in the future!

Highly recommend this duo to capture any brides big day! They were such a pleasure to work with from the very beginning. We chose them based off their style of photography with film as an option. They completely blew us away with our photos at the end. We loved our entire album. It absolutely down poured our entire wedding, but they both got creative quickly, and helped make our photos still amazing. Highly recommend!

"We loved our entire album."
