A Golden Summer Evening Engagement at Rattlesnake Lake
Emily and Jake’s summer evening Rattlesnake Lake engagement photos were nothing short of magical. With their adorable Dachshund puppies, Stanley and Franklin, in tow, the couple brought so much warmth, laughter, and personality to their shoot. The golden light reflecting off the lake, the soft rustle of the evergreens, and the easy joy between them created a setting that perfectly captured who they are together.
However, like many summer evenings at Rattlesnake Lake, the area was bustling with families, hikers, and swimmers enjoying the warm weather. Crowds can easily feel like a challenge during popular location shoots, but experienced photographers know how to work around them. By carefully choosing angles, using a longer focal length, and waiting for just the right moments between passersby, the images looked as if Emily and Jake had the whole lakeside to themselves. That’s the beauty of working with a seasoned photographer—knowing how to create intimacy and calm even in a busy environment.
Shot primarily on Fuji 400H film, the session has that unmistakable pastel glow and timeless texture that film lovers cherish. The soft greens of the trees and the dreamy blues of the water rendered beautifully, complementing the couple’s light, summery outfits. Additionally, a few rolls of black-and-white 35mm film were used to capture more emotional, candid moments—like quiet glances between Emily and Jake or the pups tugging at their leashes in playful chaos. These monochrome images added depth and contrast to the full gallery, balancing nostalgia with authenticity.

If you’re dreaming of Rattlesnake Lake engagement photos, take a cue from Emily and Jake—embrace the season, bring your pets, and trust your photographer to make magic happen no matter how crowded it may seem. With the right eye and a bit of patience, even the busiest summer evening can transform into a serene, love-filled story you’ll treasure forever. We can’t wait to celebrate these two at their wedding in the summer of 2026 at The Admirals House.
