Abby & Trey opted to do their Seattle engagement photos in a neighborhood that had meaning to their relationship. Historic downtown Ballard (where Trey lived when they first started dating) was the backdrop for their sweet and sophisticated engagement session. It’s always a good idea to choose a location that has meaning to the two of you. Wether it be where you first met or a place you frequent for date nights. You can also consider the season when choosing your location. Since this engagement session was in the spring and the sun had come out in Seattle we hopped over to Golden Gardens which is close by to get some more nature inspired photos for variety. We shot on a mixture of Portra 400 color film and Ilford Delta 3200 Black and White film. With Film scans by Photovision Prints.
Abby and I chatted and shared links to different dresses she was considering wearing. This is always a good idea and Im always willing and excited to help you plan what to wear for your engagement session. Wardrobe can really change the overall feel of your photos. Certain colors work best in certain environments. To see some engagement session wardrobe inspiration check out our Pinterest board here. The flowing white J. Crew wrap dress she chose worked great at both the city location and beach location and the movement of the fabric in the wind really elevated the photos. The pop of color in her red heels represented her fun and quirky personality. Trey wore a comfortable yes sophisticated outfit in colors that really photograph well. When you pick clothes you feel good in and look good in, it helps so much with your confidence level in front of the camera.
